BE Luxury: Go Glamping in the Final Days of Summer

As busy professionals who work indoors most of time, summer can be a great time to get in tune with nature—and do so in style. Glamorous camping—or glamping—is especially for people who like the idea of camping, but also want to maintain a certain level of comfort. Here are a few glamping options to go camping without roughing it.

The Treehouse at Moose Meadow Lodge in Waterbury, Vermont is not a typical backyard treehouse; it’s two stories of rustic luxury. The treehouse, constructed out of cedar, pine, maple, and hemlock, is supported by two pine trees. It features a living room, dining room, and a bedroom loft with a queen-sized bed that comfortably sleeps two. Extra people can camp out in the living room, of course. For your comfort, the treehouse offers special design features like a wrap-around balcony, a spiral staircase and 31 windows to appreciate the great outdoors. Rates start at $475 per night.

The Resort at Paws Up in Greenough, Montana has a new Cliffside Camp, which consists of four two-bedroom tent suites (enough room for small families) and two one-bedroom adult-only tent suites (perfect for romantic getaways). Each tent is air conditioned and has a bathroom. Paws Up glampers also get chef-prepared meals and butler services.

The Resort at Paws Up offers several camping options for glamping enthusiasts and novices alike, but if you are unsure of which one to try, the honeymoon tents at Cliffside Camp, the Eagle Cliff and Elk Point tents, have a claw foot tub for two and The Last Best Bed®

. They are tempting choices for even the most discerning guests.

There’s a four night minimum to reserve the tents. Rates are approximately $8,493 per couple for a four-night stay in a one-bedroom tent suite, and about $10,957 for all four nights in the two-bedroom tent in August 2016.

Rates include three meals per person, per day, wine and beer with lunch, and dinner, airport transfers, and select activities.

Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort offers two glamping sites: Shawnee Riverside and Shawnee Island.  With views of the Delaware River, Shawnee Riverside glamping offers guests scenic views, electricity, WiFi, men’s and women’s restrooms, and access to

lockers and other amenities at the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort.  The Riverside glamp-site is on the resort’s lawn, so guests can easily use the inn’s facilities. The weekend rate (Friday and Saturday) for Shawnee Riverside Glamping is $248 per night (two-person occupancy).

Located on an island on the Delaware River and accessible by canoe, Shawnee’s Island glamping is designed for glampers interested in a remote camping experience, so guests get limited access to the mainland. The island campsite includes four tents with shared men’s and women’s showers and restrooms. The camp also includes electricity, WiFi, and a camp attendant. Island Glamping rates are usually about $324 per night with two people in the tent. The Island tent is available Thursdays through Sundays.

It’s definitely possible to glamp without leaving the city. W Hotel’s new New York glamping suite on the Extreme Wow Suite terrace exemplifies this modern take on glamping through its Extreme Wow Outdoor Glamping Suite. Designed by Laurel & Wolf, the site features a 12-foot yurt surrounded with cozy seating areas and decorated with brightly colored fabrics. A city-safe fire pit and lanterns add to the ambiance of this non-traditional take on glamping. Rates for the outdoor glamping suite start at $2,000 per night. It’s available until November.
