BET Kicks Off Fashion Week with Inaugural “BET On Fashion” Event

On Sept. 3, BET hosted its first ever “BET On Fashion” event as a way to kick off the highly anticipated New York Fashion Week events.

Held at Espace in New York City, the event was filled with some of the industry’s hottest movers and shakers including Essence Editor-at-Large Mikki Taylor, style and beauty expert Tai Beauchamp, BET CEO Debra Lee, singer Elle Varner, former Essence Editor-at-Large Emil Wilbekin, and more. Shedding light on the talent of black designers, “BET on Fashion” showcased the creative collections of seven rising talents including Viktor Luna, Helen Castillo, Natt Taylor, St. Frimpong, Jacinta Ligon, Andrew Nowell and Tashia Senn.

Showing a diverse range of models on the runway, the fashion collections presented at the exclusive event proved that bold prints, crop tops, and wide-legged pants are here to stay for the ladies, while solid color suits with a pop of color around the collar are in style for the guys.

Take a look at some of the best photos gathered from BET’s New York Fashion Week kickoff event.
