Controversial Or Nah?!: 5 Disney Princess Reimagined As Caucasian

Without further ado, we submit these images and questions for your discussion, are these reimagined creations offensive or no?

Princess Tiana

Disney’s first black princess in The Princess and The Frog

, Tiana was the studio’s black heroine du jour. Does the important lesson of acceptance and friendship succumb to changing the color of Princess Tiana’s skin?

Pochahontas

With Thanksgiving on the way, there is no surprise that this film will be on televisions shortly. As a Powhatan Native American, her story was full of sacrifice, love and reward. But does changing her race make her any less beautiful?

Esmeralda

Upon first look, one might not even remember what movie this character is from. If you’re well versed in the Hunchback of Notre Dame, then you’ll recognize Esmeralda. Her story, regardless of race, managed to inspire millions. Does it do it for you?

Princess Jasmine

If Aladdin had seen Jasmine as a Caucasian royal would he have been so

pressed to save her life from Jafar? The image is only jarring if you’re not sure what your young child (or self) would make from this, so the question has to be asked: Are these images controversial or nah?
