Golf & Tennis Challenge: Day 3 – Golf, Grub, and Groove

It’s Saturday and you should be well into the groove of this year’s event. Well, that’s good because it’s not over yet. Get some continental breakfast at the Pavilion then head on over to the hotel lobby to get ready for your power walk and run, bright and early at 7AM.

If you’d rather start your morning on the green, Social Golf at 7AM will provide you with good company and leisure play at the Golf Staging Area. If you were selected yesterday for Tournament Golf, you can also head toward the Golf Staging Area for the 7:30AM shotgun start.

Tennis lovers can take part in the efficiency contest and tennis networking at 8AM at the Health & Racquet Club. Here is where you’ll learn to tighten your volleying skills and test your mettle against other G&T participants. This is indeed a contest, so there will be prizes!

Of course, in between rounds on the course and the courts, you’ll have ample opportunity for fitness. By now you’ve downloaded the BE Events App. Check it for the times and locations of the Soca workout, belly dancing, morning yoga, Zumba dance workout, Pilates barre, Hip-Hop dance workout, boot camp boxing, and other fitness classes. Okay, we’ll count the BE Carnival party you attended last night as a workout, too.

Georgia Pacific is hosting a Beginner Golf Academy Etiquette Workshop where attendees will learn the DOs and DON’Ts of the game. To attend this session, report to the congressional room at 8AM sharp.  The Beginner Golf Academy is also offering on-course instruction where participants will review  golf rules, play etiquette, and basic course management skills. This session will take place in the Fazio Driving Range. Please leave all whistles and bullhorns at home.

Tennis Academy & Social Tennis will take place at the Health & Racquet Club at 11AM. Come work on your backhand, volleys, and serves. This is also the perfect time and place to network while enjoying non-competitive play.

Calling all of you that burn in the kitchen! (Not literally, please no.) The Master Chef Challenge has made its way to Palm Beach to the Golf & Tennis Challenge, and you’re invited to show us exactly wh

at you’ve got! Join the guest chef as you and your team attempt to recreate the chef’s signature dish. Being that you know how to throw down, this should be a cakewalk for you! Good luck! Please be advised that participation is limited and reservations will be taken on a first come, first served basis. The fun starts at 10AM.

At noon, Prudential will be hosting the BE Modern Man: New Faces of Wealth Luncheon. Join hosts Paul C. Brunson and BE’s own Alfred Edmond, Jr. as they have a candid conversation with extraordinary men about what it means to achieve financial goals and make impactful societal contributions.

If you’ve ever dreamed of being a pop star, now is your chance to bring that dream to life … well, kind of. Come as a soloist or grab a group and compete in the new Black Enterprise Lip Sync Battle. Select a song and “sync” your heart out! Come to the Masters Ballroom A to join in on the fun. Participation is limited, so come early and sign up.

If you missed Thursday’s documentary screening of An Unexpected History: The Story of Hennessey and African Americans hosted by Moët-Hennessy, you’ll have an opportunity to catch it today at 4:30PM in the Congressional. Please be advised that space in the theatre is limited.

Today will close with a treat. At 8PM in the PGA Ballroom, we’re going to acknowledge the sponsors of the Black Enterprise Golf & Tennis Challenge for their continued support at the Awards Dinner & Concert Celebration, hosted by FedEx Express. Grammy Award-winning songstress Estelle will be on hand to perform her newest and classic hits! Did we mention that the evening’s theme is Harlem Renaissance? Put on your best 1920s-era “rags” and embrace the ambience!

And if you aren’t all partied out after Estelle, come to the Final Rendezvous at midnight in the PGA Main Lobby and dance until you can’t dance anymore in celebration of an epic 2015 Memorial Day weekend.

See you in 2016!
