In documents that were used as evidence during the Samsung case, new

details have come to light on the process of the iPhone design. At the pinnacle of the iPod’s success Apple
execs realized that soon cellphone companies would try to combine basic phone functions with playing music, making the iPod obsolete. They needed to get ahead of the curve and combine the two. Thus the iPhone was born.
