President Donald Trump has already issued several controversial pardons within the past couple of weeks and as he prepares for his final days in office, Bloomberg is reporting that he has a few more in mind.
ampforwp-incontent-ad1">Given Trump’s penchant for pardoning criminals who are loyal to him, it comes as no surprise that more are anticipated from the president of the United States. With the intention of announcing pardons on January 19, Trump is huddling with attorneys and officials as he prepares a list of people that he is considering to pardon in the final days of his administration.
Included on that list would most likely be senior White House officials, family members, even some well-known rappers and, if possible, a self-pardon to shield him from any future litigation and/or accusations once his time as president ends.
Some individuals who may be considered for preemptive pardons, although they have yet to be charged with anything are Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, senior adviser Stephen Miller, personnel chief John McEntee, and social media director Dan Scavino. You can also add Trump’s daughter Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner. Another inclusion to that list may be Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani.
Surprisingly, some rappers may get pardons from Trump. Supporter Lil Wayne (nee Wayne Carter), who was recently arrested and faces prison time, comes to mind. Kodak Black (Bill Kahan Kapri), who, just this week, had requested release and was turned down, had also pleaded to Trump to have him released from prison. Even Lil Yachty made a request to Trump to get Kodak Black’s sentence commuted.
On the subject of self-pardon, according to NBC News, “The Constitution provides that the president ‘shall have power to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment.”‘
