WATCH: Boxer Teresa Scott Promotes Fitness & Self-Confidence in Women

Teresa Scott is a knockout–literally. A creative director in the publishing industry by day, the health-conscious entrepreneur hops in the ring most nights to train other women–ranging in age from 14-70–to box. A certified USA boxing coach, Scott founded the Women’s World of Boxing, Inc., a for-profit organization designed to provide women with a safe, comfortable and uplifting environment to learn the sport.

Scott herself was introduced to boxing several years ago when she was looking for a way to get in shape. Through the sport, she found confidence and strength, and lost over 60 lbs in the process. Scott’s love of the sweet science led her to create a women-only space for individuals like herself, who may have been intimidated by the male-dominated sport. Her passion for boxing extends to young women as well with the launch of the WWB Girl’s Club, the non-profit wing of her company, which provides training for her teenage clients.

While the Women’s World of Boxing is currently being hosted by the Kingsway Boxing NYC, Scott’s ultimate goal is to open up her own gym in the near future. In an effort to achieve that goal, she recently launched an IndieGoGo fundraising campaign to fund her dream. BlackEnterprise.com stepped in the ring with Scott, who shared her fat to fitness success story.
