Walker’s Legacy, a women in business collective with a purpose to continue the enterprising legacy of self-made millionaire Madame C. J. Walker, is kicking off its 2014 multi-state organizational roll-out.

The initiative will launch in targeted “Walker’s Legacy Communities” including Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, New Orleans, Atlanta, among others. The organization will also partner with the Give1 Project to launch a women’s entrepreneurship training program in Dakar, Senegal in March.

Through power summits, seminars and online training, the national launch will focus on career development, entrepreneurship and inspiration for enterprising women of color.

“The vision for Walker’s Legacy is to inspire, equip and connect a global network of emerging and establish businesswomen,” says founder Natalie Madeira Cofield. “The launch of our national program is intended to begin the process of fermenting that vision and connecting women to the resources needed to leave their own legacy.”

Walker’s Legacy was founded in 2009 with the mission to enhance leadership skills, create networking and learning opportunities and bring exposure to emerging trends in business for aspiring and professional women of color. Through its interactive programming, the organization has hosted former mayor’s award winning journalists and authors, Forbes ranked business women and entrepreneurs from across the country. Initially established in the Washington, DC market, the organization has touched more than 1,000 women through its interactive in-person and on-line educational programs.
