STEM Activities and More at Camp Google

Do you have youngsters 7—10 years old who are sitting around with nothing to do? Camp Google has come to the rescue, and it’s free. The purpose of the online camp is to “get kids outside exploring and experimenting with fun science activities,” so it’s best if your child has access to a park or backyard. The Camp Google site says the activities are designed for children and that parental involvement isn’t necessary, but you won’t want to miss out on the fun your child will be having. Plus, your involvement sends the signal that this is important. A printable supplies list is available on the site.

The folks at Google consulted the experts to design this camp: Khan Academy, National Geographic Kids, NASA, and National Park Service; they also consulted the Family Online Safety Institute.

There is a live stream component to the camp, so your children will be interacting with experts in the fields of oceanography, space, music, and environmental studies who will answer their questions. Your children can even earn badges, depending on the activities they complete.

Even if your children are in day camp, they may enjoy coming home to Camp Google. Younger kids can participate with a parent’s help.
