One of the best ways to engage kids in science, technology, engineering and math is to simply make it fun. STEM festivals introduce students of all ages as well as their parents to hands on activities and leaders in STEM fields. Here are few upcoming festivals to add to your calendar.

During this one-day event, children 6-9 years old are encouraged to show off their communication and research skills to a set of reviewers. The Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore Spring Robotics & Engineering Expo, a non-competitive program, will also celebrate the Jr. FLL team achievements with music, awards, and certificates.

STE (A)M Fest — A science, technology, engineering, art and math festival designed for professional artists and engineers. The one day event includes STEM related workshops and demonstrations designed to demonstrate creative uses of STEM subjects to learners of all ages.
According to Lowe Mill Arts and Entertainment, last year’s giant pool of non-Newtonian fluid made a splash with over 3,000 happy Huntsville City Schools students. This year a 500-foot long pine car racetrack coming right out of Lowe Mill’s third floor window is planned to give the event that extra wow factor.

The Chappaqua STEM Fest

With a goal to give students a chance to celebrate all they can create and discover, the Chappaqua STEM Fest promises groundbreaking inventions and messy experiments from students and local STEM experts. Launched by the Chappaqua PTA STEM Committee the STEM Fest is designed for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Students can showcase their experiments, inventions and research and they can also do hands-on “maker” activities with some of the coolest experts in the area. Each year, the Northeast Regional Hub partners with local community leaders and educators to host five annual Family STEM Festivals. From driving robots and trying virtual welding to testing chemical reactions and flying flight simulators, Iowa spark student and parents can experience various hands-on learning activities during this one day festival.
