Ghana Tech Summit Announces Speakers From IBM, Uber, and Google

Ghana Tech Summit, a 12-year initiative of the Global Startup Ecosystem, recently announced its first set of the 25 speakers who will be in attendance. These speakers include execs from companies such as IBM, Uber, Google, LinkedIn, and the United Nations. Black Enterprise will also be joining the cohort set to take place in Accra, Ghana, West Africa, July 18–20, 2018. This is the first time that Ghana has seen a tech summit of this magnitude.

“Entrepreneurs in emerging markets have the same capabilities as I do, but not the same direct access; as a result, assumptions are made about their ability to innovate, disrupt and inspire global markets,” said Einstein Kofi Ntim, founder of Ghana Tech Summit.

The summit is a part of an initiative to bring global leaders to Ghana to initiate partnerships and accelerate Ghana as an innovative tech hub in Africa. In total, the summit plans to host over 100 global speakers. So far they have inked in Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh, Country General Manager for IBM in Africa; Lola Kassim, Uber West Africa & Harvard + LSE Alumna; Ambassador Johanna Odonkor Svanikier, Ghana’s former Ambassador to France & Portugal; and Daraiha Greene, Google Global External Partnerships Manager, Community & Business Inclusion, to name a few.

This summit is brought to you by the founders of the Haiti Tech Summit, which was a sold-out event last year, hosting everyone from investor Ben Horowitz, co-founder and partner of Andreessen Horowitz to actress Vicky Jeudy from hit series, Orange is the New Black.

“The difference between the Haiti and Ghana summits is Haiti is showcasing that it is not only open for business but open for disruption, while Ghana will be repositioned as the “The Silicon Gateway to Africa,” said Christine Souffrant Ntim, founder of Haiti Tech Summit. Her husband Einstein Kofi Ntim is spearheading the Ghana Tech Summit.
