Kevin Clash’s Departure From ‘Sesame Street’ Unsettles Cast


Kevin Clash’s departure from Sesame Street after allegations that he had sexual relationships with underage boys has left his co-workers and castmates on the beloved children’s show trying to cope with his absence, according to the New York Times.

Clash, who was the puppeteer and voice of Elmo and other characters, was also the show’s Muppet leader. He resigned last week.

Production of the final episodes of the 2013-14 season of “Sesame Street” went on a two-week break last week, a planned hiatus that provided a bit of respite for the show’s cast and producers. But when work resumes the week of Dec. 3, said the person close to the production, a therapist may be on hand for those who need support.

The less-than-two dozen puppeteers and human characters who work on the show – and collaborate on each other’s outside puppet productions, as well – are a tightly knit band. …
