Kevin “Voice of Elmo” Clash Resigns from Sesame Street

Kevin Clash, the puppeteer and voice behind Sesame Street’s Elmo character, has resigned from Sesame Street, the N. Y. Times reports.

His resignation comes after Sheldon Stephens, 24, accused him of underage sex last week, and subsequently settled with Clash for $125,000 and recanted his story.

But another man, Cecil Singleton, filed a lawsuit in New York today claiming that Clash had underage sex with him too. TMZ reports that Singleton says, “[Clash] trolled gay telephone chat line rooms to meet and have sex with underage boys.”

Clash  had portrayed Elmo on “Sesame Street” since 1985.
