According to SB Nation, the sale of the Los Angeles Clippers to ex-Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is official. It was announced by the NBA that the new owner is the Clippers’ “Governor.”
After a tumultuous time since a recorded audio tape revealed former Clippers owner Donald Sterling spewing racist comments in casual conversation with his “assistant,” the storyline took several different turns to end up here.

Ballmer purchased the NBA team for a reported $2 billion. Sterling was banned from operating the team and fined $2.5 million for the recordings and his wife, co-owner of the team (at the time), sold the team to Ballmer. Sterling then contested the sale in court. He lost the case and that set up the final closing of the Sterling saga that has gripped the NBA for several months.
