I spent five years in the U.S. Navy and finished my obligation last year. Since that time, I’ve had several jobs. Now, I run my own business, but I’m unfulfilled. Therefore, I’m thinking about other professions. In addition, I’m in a relationship where my girlfriend doesn’t understand or support my way of doing things. The closer she gets to her goals, the more pressure she is putting on me to make a decision on what I want to do or be. Can you help?

It sounds like there are a couple of things going on here. You’re happy running your business for now, but have plans to do more. There’s nothing wrong with that. It does seem that you may not have found your stride, which may be the reason for the various jobs that you’ve had recently. Before moving into the next position, I suggest that you try to figure out if that’s really what you want to do.
When it comes to relationships, oftentimes, a man is taught that when somebody pushes, you pull. Women are taught if it’s something you want, then push your way to achievement. This may be where you and your girlfriend are butting heads.
Ask her to help you get to the next level without leading you. You have to do the work yourself in your own way, but make her a part of the process so that she knows you are moving forward with your plan, not hers.
