FTC Updates Online Complaint Site

If you want to file a complaint or report a scam, you’re in luck. The Federal Trade Commission has redesigned its online Complaint Assistant, which allows consumers to submit complaints to the FTC. The site also gives consumers the opportunity to obtain educational information about their concern.

Complaints are entered into the Consumer Sentinel Network database, and are made available to federal, state and local law enforcement. The Complaint Assistant has been updated to provide easier navigation and a streamlined design. Some of the complaints that can be logged through this site include identity theft; unwanted telemarketing, text, or spam; and complaints regarding money.

If you think logging a consumer complaint is a waste of time, you’re wrong. The FTC says on its website that these complaints might lead to investigations and eliminate unfair business practices.

In addition, the FTC has taken steps to make sure your privacy is protected during the complaint process. You can give as little or as much information as you are comfortable with. The privacy policy is available for those who have concerns.
