Miss Nigeria USA Crowns 2015 Queen


On Saturday, May 23,  the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater hosted the annual Miss Nigeria USA pageant in New York City.  Founded in 2014, the contest and celebration was established to highlight the beauty, talent, and skills of Nigerian women while upholding the values of culture and class.

The  contestants were asked to demonstrate their physical, cultural, and intellectual qualities while competing for the ambassador-like role of Miss Nigeria USA in front of supporters, sponsors, and fans.

According to a statement from Miss Nigeria USA, the bustling event included celebrities such as  Ty Hunter, who is Beyonce’s personal stylist, Rapper Consequence, of VH1’s “Love & Hip-hop”, Keith Beasley, Empire Season 2 cast member, and Nigerian singer, Banky W, as musical guest.

The organization crowned Frances Udukwu as winner of the beauty contest. Udukwu is a 25-year-old graduate of Temple University. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health and Healthcare Systems Management, and currently works as a healthcare consultant. After competing against 17 contestants, she emerged as the winner of the Miss Nigeria USA beauty pageant, and was crowned by Miss Africa USA 2014, Meron Wudneh.
