Bishop T.D. Jakes was recently interviewed by HuffPost Live’s Marc Lamont-Hill, expressing his beliefs on the black church’s stance on homosexuality and interaction with the LGBT community.

“I think that it’s going to be diverse from church to church. Every church has a different opinion on the issue and every gay person is different,” Jakes said. When asked specifcially about where he stands on homosexuality, the pastor said his thinking has “evolved and is evolving.”

He also expressed that the government should protect everyone’s right to choose their faith as well as their opinions including those about faith and lifestyles.

Jakes faced criticism after the interview, with one critic calling his responses “intentionally ambiguous” and another calling his stance “murky.”
