Mayweather vs. Canelo Fight Highest Average highest Ticket Price Among Major Sporting Events

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Canelo Alvarez will square off Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

According to SBNation.com, the secondary market ticket sales for Floyd “Money” Mayweather’s bout with Saul “Canelo” Alvarez were through the roof,Â far outpacing any other fight in recent memory and only falling short of ticket sales from the last three Super Bowls.

Seat Geek, an online event ticket search engine, reported to SBNation that the average ticket price on the secondary market for the fight was $2,028 per ticket—more than twice as expensive as any other fight they’ve tracked.

Mayweather, who triumphed over Alverez Sept. 14, fought in front of a sold-out crowd of more than 16,000.
