National Urban League Education Summit Discusses Learning and Success

The National Urban League (NUL), the nation’s oldest and largest community-based movement devoted to empowering African Americans, and USA Funds presents a gathering of minds at the National Higher Education Summit – Building an Equity & Opportunity Agenda: The Economic Imperative of College Completion event.

This event looks to bring together nearly 200 business, education, and government leaders in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 27 and 28 as a means to confront the urgent need to promote and enhance college and career success for low-income students, and students of color.

The Summit will be covering topics ranging from school completion and career attainment, to equity, access, and affordability. There will also be sessions featuring professional speakers on strategic investments, partnerships, and vision in leadership. Teaching and learning will be a main focus of the summit as speakers tackle innovation & next generation models, along with business and higher education.

Featured speakers for the summit include President and CEO of NUL, Marc Morial, President and CEO of USA Funds, William D. Hansen, President of Howard University, Dr. Wayne A.I. Frederick, John B. King Jr., Deputy Secretary of the U.S Department of Education, Kasim Reed, Mayor of Atlanta, Governor or Tennessee, Bill Haslam, John Engler, President of Business Roundtable, Allison Barber, Chancellor of Western Governors University, and more.

All of the sessions will be followed by a Q&A for attendees to follow-up and gain insight past the discussion. There will also be time allocated to devise next steps and courses of action as it is in the doing where most results are noticed.
