Paula Deen Dropped By Smithfield Foods

Smithfield Foods operates world's largest slaughterhouse and meat processing plant in Tar Heel, North Carolina

Smithfield Foods, the world’s largest pork producer and processor, is dropping former TV chef Paula Deen as a spokeswoman.

The announcement today only a few days after the Food Network said it would not renew Deen’s contract because she admitted using racial slurs during a deposition in a discrimination lawsuit.

In a statement, Smithfield Foods, which is based in Smithfield, Virginia said it “condemns the use of offensive and discriminatory language and behavior of any kind.”
