Update: CNN and MSNBC are projecting a decisive win for Obama in Pennsylvania. Both polls show Obama ahead 58% to 41%. Obama made many stump stops in the battle groundstate in the days leading up to the election.
The second round of voting numbers were calculated between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., as some polls closed and others remained open due to glitches, rolling through a night filled with anticipation as numbers in swing states remain tight. States that closed their polls include New Hampshire, Tennessee, Maine, Massachusetts.
Pennsylvania: Though polls are closed, votes are too tight to definitively call. Obama is projected as the winner by ABC News, with 65% of the vote to McCain’s 34% (and 24% reporting).
Florida: Yet another state where the race is tight, with Obama leading with 51% of the vote to McCain’s 48% (and 55% reporting), according to ABC News. CNN echoes those results, in a state where 27 electoral votes are up for grabs.
New Hampshire: Obama is the projected winner, according to CNN, with 60% of the votes compared with McCain’s 39%.
Tennessee: McCain is the projected winner, with 62% to Obama’s 37%, (5% of precincts reporting).
Maine: Obama leads with 67% of the vote to McCain’s 31%, according to ABC News. CNN
Massachusetts: Obama is the presumptive winner with 62% of the vote, beating McCain’s 37%, according to ABC News, with 17% of precincts voting.
The Huffington Post reports that Obama leads with 175 electoral votes to McCain’s 76. CNN projects that Obama will pick up Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin. McCain will pick up Alabama, North Dakota, and Wyoming.
