Scholarship Alert: CUNY Offering Up to $30,000 for Diversity in Labor

The Murphy Institute for Worker Education and Labor Studies at the City University of New York School of Professional Studies is accepting applications for its Joseph S. Murphy Scholarship for Diversity in Labor. The scholarships offer awards of up to $30,000 for graduate students and up to $20,000 for undergrads and are available for the 2015—2016 school year.

 

According to the Murphy Institute Website, the purpose of the awards, which specifically target students in underrepresented groups, is to foster diverse leadership in the labor movement and in the field of labor studies, an academic discipline.

To be eligible, undergraduate students must have earned 60 or more credits at a prior college and have a grade point average of at least 3.0 or be already enrolled in the Murphy Institute Urban and Communication Studies program with a concentration in labor; graduate students must be applying to the Labor Studies program and have earned a GPA of at least 3.5 in their undergraduate work, according to the Murphy Institute website. The application deadline is March 31.
