From Dec. 2 through Dec. 20, NPR’s Tell Me More with Michel Martin is chatting with black and Latino leaders and entrepreneurs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through their “Day in the Life” Twitter series, #NPRBlacksinTech.
On the company blog, the Tell Me More staff writes:
“We are hearing from cutting-edge scientists and tech thinkers about the exciting work they’re doing in their fields. Despite this vibrant community, African-Americans still represent only 5 percent of America’s scientists and engineers, according to a 2010 study by the National Science Foundation.
We are meeting with the 5 percent on, and asking them what can be done about the disparity.”
Black Enterprise Technology Editor Janel Martinez participated in NPR’s “Day in the Life” series, alongside Nnena Ukuku, tech startup attorney and co-founder and CEO of Black Founders, and Charles Custon, founder and CEO of Fonefill.
