5. After a dip in his endorsement deals, Tiger Woods came back strong, this year. Woods inked a five-year contract with Hero MotoCorp, a motorcycle brand in India. The deal is expected to pay the golf star $6 million to $8 million annually, reported ESPN. The nice contract was Woods’s biggest deal in five year. Go, Tiger. Read more here.
4. The King goes home. Back in July, LeBron James announced in a letter on Sports Illustrated’s website that he was leaving Miami to go back to Cleveland. The personal essay by James helped Sports Illustrated’s traffic balloon on July 11. But the website didn’t attempt to build any advertising around the piece, according to the Wall Street Journal.
3. Kobe Bryant passed Michael Jordan on NBA’s all-time scoring list. The Los Angeles Lakers star is behind basketball greats Abdul-Jabbar and Karl Malone with 32,293 points.
2. Wilt Chamberlain was the first NBA player to grace a postage stamp. The USPS printed 50 million Wilt Chamberlain stamps, which is unusual because from 25 million to 30 million special edition stamps are released, said Mark Saunders, USPS communications director.
1. As the only girl on the Philadelphia Taney Dragons all-star team, Davis became the first girl in the 75-year history of the Little League World Series to pitch a shutout in the tournament.
