4. Go organic. Just as you look for organic labels on your food, also search the packaging of your lawn and garden products for earth-friendly ingredients. Some chemicals are harder to break down than others and could create negative environmental effects when met with rainfall or other inclement weather.

5. Be litter free. Dispose of debris properly. If you are changing the oil in your car, resist the urge to throw the old oil in the trash can or pour it down the drain. Many auto maintenance shops will take the oil and get rid of it the right way for you. Also, keep cans, bottles, and caps out of water inlets.
