If Tyler Perry’s version of For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow is Enuf is a hit, then there will be significant implications for black cinema. The questions are, what would Perry consider a hit and what are the implications?

To date, Perry has directed and/or produced 9 films with a box office average of $54 million per film. His most successful one being Madea Goes To Jail which checked in at about $90 million, while his least successful was Daddy’s Little Girls which did a respectable $31 million.
