Who Is on Your Dream Team? Meet 6 Key Players That Can Make Your Business a Success

The NFL Draft is the topic of the day. I don’t follow it, but I do see news clips and social media posts running down my timeline. People are discussing the skills of each player, and what teams they should be drafted to. A lot of thought goes into the selection process; the skills of the player, the needs of the team, and how it will all mesh together to produce some wins.

It reminds me of Cuba Gooding, Jr.’s famous line in Jerry Maguire, “Show me the money!” After all, it is about the money–right? Well, the same thing needs to happen in your business and in your personal life.

The same careful consideration that coaches put into place when deciding on which players to draft, is the same kind of consideration you should have when deciding on which players should to be on your team. Choosing the wrong people can cost you time, energy, and money. The right people can make your life run more smoothly, and propel your business to success.

Below, I have listed key players to have on your ‘Dream Team’:

1. The Expert

This person is where you want to be. The Expert has accomplished the things that you are trying to accomplish. They can steer you in the right direction, and answer any questions you might have. Share their experiences, the good and the bad, because you can learn from their mistakes.

2. The Supporter

This is the person that supports you no matter what. When you have ideas and things you want to do, they are right there with you, helping you figure it out.

3. The Trailblazer

This is the person who always thinks outside of the box and comes up with new and exciting ways to do things. They keep up to date with new technology and new techniques, and they won’t let things get stale. The Trailblazer’s ultimate objective is to help you stay current.

4. The Disputer

This person always plays the ‘devil’s advocate.’ They bring you back to Earth, because they think things through from all angles. The Disputer isn’t necessarily trying to be mean, but he or she does make sure that all things have been considered.

5. The Connector

This is the person who knows people. They are a social butterfly, who knows how to network. This is the person who always knows someone that can help you with what you need, and they are always happy to make the connection.

6. The Muscle

You always need somebody who is there to help you with the manual labor. The Muscle can help you set up before an event, and tear everything down afterward. He or she is there for those mundane, but very important tasks, like helping you load or unload the car.

I have someone who plays each of these positions on my ‘Dream Team.’ They keep me grounded and on task. I suggest you look into putting your ‘Dream Team’ in place, if you have not done so already.
