High Appointment: Ritz Carlton Manager is First Female Chief Usher at White House

No, this isn’t your typical theater or church usher. Ritz-Carlton general manager Angella Reid was appointed to serve as the White House’s chief usher, making her the first African-American woman to hold the very important post.

Reid will be the ninth person to take on the role as director of the President’s executive residence and will oversee all aspects of the operations and activities that take place in the residence and on its grounds.

Reid currently manages The Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City in Arlington, Virginia and has more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including posts at Ritz-Carlton properties in Miami and Washington, D.C.
