Don’t Let the ‘G’ in Giving Stand for Guilt

who’re always calling on you, trying to make you feel guilty for not ‘being there’ for them. Only God can always be there! There’s a difference between helping somebody and carrying them. Your constant help may actually be a hindrance. Why should they even try if you’re always there to do it for them? Look out! Your need to be needed could be getting in the way of their need to grow. Step back and let them walk on their own!

Not everyone will be happy with you. They’re not supposed to be! Jesus said, “Woe to you when all men speak well of you…”–Luke 6:26 (NIV). Don’t let fear of criticism imprison your common sense. People don’t take terminations well; but this is a matter of survival! Every relationship in your life is for a reason and for a season. Ask God to help you discern between those who belong in your past and those who belong in your future–then get moving.
