The U.S. Army’s 240th birthday is on June 14. To celebrate years of selfless service to the nation, several events are planned across the nation. Check out this list of upcoming events.
June 1, U.S. ARMY DAY – Blue Jays at Nationals, Nationals Park, Washington, DC. All season long, the Washington Nationals are offering special ticket pricing of up to 30% off, plus a credit of up to $10 for food, beverage or merchandise, to active-duty, reserve, veteran, and retired military personnel, first responders, government employees and public school teachers.

June 9, “We Serve” Soldier Show in D.C., Washington DC
Gen. Ray Odierno and Sgt. Maj. of the Army, Daniel A. Dailey, will host the U.S. Army Soldier Show’s Army Birthday Week performance. It will be held at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C. The U.S. Army Soldier Show is a 90-minute song-and-dance production of “entertainment for the soldier, by the soldier.” The free show will begin at 7 p.m. and is open to the public.
June 9, Mount Vernon Wreath Laying Service. Tomb Grove, Mount Vernon, VA 0930 — 1100. The Wreath Laying at General George and Martha Washington’s Tomb The Secretary of the Army features The Honorable John M. McHugh The Sergeant Major of the Army, Daniel A. Dailey Mrs. Barbara B. Lucas, Regent, and the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association.
June 10, Twilight Tattoo, Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, VA
1900 – 2000. Twilight Tattoo is an hour-long, live-action military pageant. The event features an Fife and Drum Corps Performance, Army Drill Team Performance, U.S. Army Band Medley Soldier’s Creed and more.
June 14,Arlington National Cemetery Wreath Laying, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Arlington, VA 0930 — 1000 The gift of flowers at a memorial site is a common ritual that occurs across cultures around the world. Each day at the Arlington National Cemetery, dozens of funeral services occur to honor the life and memory of our fallen soldiers.
June 14, Stripes and Stars Festival: Flag Day and Army Birthday, National Constitution Center 1000 – 1430, Philadelphia, PA. From a patriotic parade to Independence Hall to a naturalization ceremony for 13 new Americans hosted by the Philadelphia Flag Day Association, a series of events will take place from 10 am to 5 pm.
