At 6-years-old, most kids are in the first grade and the thought of anything beyond elementary school is much of a blur. But for Joshua Beckford, life as a kid is just the opposite.

At 6, Beckford was the youngest person to ever attend Oxford University and as if that wasn’t enough, the now 8-year-old has already mapped out his future and plans to be a neurosurgeon as well as an astronaut at some point in his life. Beckford, who was too advanced for a standard curriculum and forced to be home-schooled, has also taken an interest in Egypt and is working on a children’s book about the historic nation.

In addition to all of his academic success, the young scholar is the face of the National Autistic Society’s Black and Minority campaign, which works to highlight the obstacles minorities face when trying to obtain access to the support and services they need.

With college studies under his belt, a clear idea of his career goals and the evident drive to keep striving for greatness, it’s no question that little Beckford has a bright future ahead of him.

just because yo’re not mature enough to deal, doesn’t mean he is, he’s already proved himself to be an exceptional human being, what have you done?

wow. sister you dont know me…. I have a Masters degree and a bachelors degree. Im saying this young by need to d other things besides being in a college around grown people who curse, wear provocative clothing, speak on issues, he has never experienced. Not to say, he wouldn’t understand to a certain degree however, he needs to do his classes online.

He basically studied a particular program for 8-13 year olds. He wasn’t with adults, he was with kids, who while older than he was…were still children themselves.

well, we all know that just because you have a degree or two that doesn’t man you’re intelligent, just look at our congress I don’t think he’ll be around anything different from what might be in his home or neighborhood, no one can function in a bubble which is what your suggestion intimates, we are all part of the world & the sooner we learn how to deal, the better I don’t believe in closely sheltering the young from the realities of lie I think it makes them easy prey for perverts, psychopaths & pedophiles & home schooling doesn’t encourage the growth of his social skills, his high intellect is going to make it hard enough to relate to his peers on their level no need to exacerbate the problem further by schooling him in an ivory tower he will know he’s special & real life will make him stronger
