[WATCH] First Lady Michelle Obama Welcomes Students at Beating the Odds Summit

Earlier today, First Lady Michelle Obama welcomed more than 130 college-bound students from across the country to participate in the 2015 Beating the Odds Summit. Sponsored by 70 nonprofit organizations, these students represent a mix of urban, rural, foster, homeless, special needs, and underrepresented youth who have overcome substantial obstacles to persist through high school and make it to college. The summit focuses on sharing tools and strategies students can use to successfully transition to college and the resources they will need to complete the next level of their education. Beating the Odds is part of the first lady’s Reach Higher initiative, which encourages students to pursue postsecondary education whether at a professional training program, a community college, or a four-year college or university.
