Former MLB Manager Cito Gaston Talks Jackie Robinson

Major League Baseball is celebrating the legacy of Jackie Robinson this month in conjunction with the upcoming release of the movie “42.”

Today, we have a quote from a history maker in his own right, Cito Gaston, who became the first black manager ever to win a World Series. He discusses the importance of the man who broke baseball’s color barrier.

“Without Mr. Robinson, we certainly, as minorities, would not have had a chance to succeed and move forward in our jobs, our lives. The Latin players too, all of them should think about it. If it had not been for Mr. Robinson, we wouldn’t be here today.”
