How One Entrepreneur Gets Major Media Buzz Without a PR Professional

 5. Give us 3 key tips on how to get national media attention that anyone can implement right now.

  • Make sure your product is remarkable, meaning it’s something interesting people will want to talk about.
  • Make sure you know your product’s ‘why.’ What is the essence of why people should care about your product? I spent way too much time in the early days focusing on the ‘what’ of WeMontage (e.g., removable wallpaper, unique software, etc.). The problem is consumers don’t care about what your product is, they care about why they should buy it. Focusing on WeMontage’s ‘why’ got the company mentioned in an article in the Wall Street Journal. The article was about how college students fight homesickness, which is a big problem.
  • Hustle! Because like I said, the more you hustle, the luckier you will get.

You can find WeMontage on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest at @WeMontage. To connect with James, find him on Twitter at @jamesoliverjr.
