“The Original Human Beat Box” and hip-hop legend Doug E. Fresh performed during opening day at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show, along with speed painter Martina Hahn. From the Toyota stage he performed his classic hits while Hahn simultaneously captured the energy of the crowd and his music to compose an inspiring portrait celebrating Black History Month.
The Chicago Auto Show performance was inspired by Toyota’s “Music in Motion” digital series. The digital content segments feature Doug E. Fresh and Jay Electronica, paired with visual artists to celebrate the spirit of the “rule breaker.”
Presented by the Chicago Automobile Trade Association, the nation’s oldest and largest metropolitan dealer organization, the Chicago Auto Show began Feb. 13 and ends Feb. 21.
Mark LaNeve, Ford VP of U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service, was the keynote for the Midwest Automotive Media Association (MAMA) Breakfast and Lex Kerssemakers, SVP, the Americas Region and president and CEO Volvo Cars of North America, spoke at the Economic Club of Chicago Luncheon. Other introductions include those from Chevrolet, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Infiniti, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Ram, Toyota, and Volkswagen.
The Driving Engagement Award was presented by World of Mouth Media Association (WOMMA), the Concept & Technology Garage and the show’s Social Media Preview. “The ‘Driving Engagement’ Award ceremony is an industry first that, not surprisingly, originated from the nation’s most social savvy and consumer-driven auto show, the Chicago Auto Show,” said Colin Wickstrom, 2016 Chicago Auto Show chairman, in a statement. “Our partnership with WOMMA combined with the Chicago Auto Show’s Social Media Preview provides a powerful platform to recognize auto manufacturers that executed particularly engaging social media initiatives to reach consumers. This year, we want to engage the public to learn which campaign they deem most worthy of the award.”
