Iranian Press Alters Michelle Obama’s Oscars’ Gown to Look More Conservative

Iran’s media altered of images of First Lady Michelle Obama’s sleeveless, silver gown worn during her Oscars’ award presentation Sunday night (February 24).

“Under Iran’s Islamic dress code, women are required to cover their bodies in public. Films showing foreign women without a headscarf are considered acceptable, but revealing clothes are forbidden,” reports thegrio.com.

Thus, the Iranian press felt compelled to digitally alter the First Lady’s glittering Naeem Khan-designed dressed because it showed too much skin.

The manipulated photos add material to Obama’s shoulders and neckline, and blur any additional areas that might appear “too revealing.”
