Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson Spends $19k on Toys for Less Fortunate Kids

Every year, Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson picks children out of Houston’s Child Protective Services and lets them run wild for 80 seconds — Johnson’s uniform number. The shopping spree is one of the marquee events sponsored by the Andre Johnson Charitable Foundation.

This year, the children didn’t disappoint to the tune of $19,521, according to multiple reports.

“Every day when I wake up, I ask myself, ‘Who can I add value to today,’ because it’s not about me. It’s all about helping someone else. And at this time of the year, there are many opportunities to help less fortunate children have a great Christmas,” said Johnson, according to KTRK in Houston.

The Texans travel to New England to play the New England Patriots in a battle of the two top teams in the AFC on Dec. 10.
