Study Says Minimum Wage Should Really be $21.72

The minimum wage is too low for more reasons than one, study says

Though President Obama suggests the federal minimum wage be raised to $9, a study from 2012 says nothing less than $21.72 an hour is fair, the Huffington Post reports.

According to a March 2012 study by the Center for Economic and Policy Research, advancements in technology have increased worker productivity, but the minimum wage hasn’t kept up with those advances—if it had, the minimum wage would have reached $21.72 an hour.

Even if the minimum wage was just adjusted to reflect inflation, the study says, it would at least be $10.52.
