Cam Newton Named MVP and Offensive Player of the Year


On Wednesday Jan. 20, Cam Newton was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year for 2015.

This marks the fifth year the quarterback has played with the Carolina Panthers, with 2015 being his best season yet. While leading the Panthers to a 15—1 record, Newton also had more than 4,400 yards of total offense and 45 touchdowns. His 35 passing touchdowns during this season were 11 more than his previous career high. In addition, he posted a 99.4 passer rating, which was also a new high, adding 600+ yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground as well.

Newton is the 41st MVP honored by the Professional Football Writers Association (PFWA) and became the first Panther to receive the award. In addition to being named MVP, the QB has received several other honors during the 2015 season, including the AP All-Pro First Team, Sporting News Offensive Player of the Year, and Sporting News All-Pro.
