Former Temptations Singer, Damon Harris Dead at 62

Harris loses a 14-year-long battle with prostate cancer.

 

Damon Harris, former member of legendary Motown group “The Temptations,” died on Monday, Feb. 18, he was 62.

The Baltimore Sun reported on Friday that Harris had succumbed to prostate cancer after battling it for 14 years. Harris spent the last three months in the hospital and died at the Joseph Richey Hospice in Seton Hill, Md.

A three-time Grammy award winner, Harris became a Temptation in 1971 replacing Eddie Kendricks. The singer contributed to songs like “Take A Look Around” and “Love Woke Me Up This Morning.”

Soon after leaving the Temptations Harris joined the band Impact and recorded a few soul and disco records.

Harris founded The Damon Harris Cancer Foundation in 2001.
