Just when people thought Herman Cain‘s situation couldn’t get any more interesting (and unexpected), it does.
The Republican presidential candidate informed members of his campaign staff on Tuesday that he is reassessing whether to remain in the presidential race, an aide confirmed. The news comes less than 24 hours after Ginger White, an Atlanta businesswoman, revealed she engaged in a 13-year extramarital relationship with the former Godfather’s Pizza CEO.
The New York Times reports:
In a morning conference call with his advisers, Mr. Cain said that he would make a decision in the coming days about whether to stay in the race after his campaign was rocked by another round of allegations about his sexual conduct.
Cain disclosed he is weighing his options and would discuss the future of his candidacy with his family.
“This is cause for reassessment,” Mr. Cain said, according to one participant on the call who asked to remain anonymous. “During the summer we had to make some reassessments based on our financial situation. We were able to hang in there.”
