Kitchen Aid Tweets Distasteful Comment During Debate About President’s Grandmother

Yesterday’s first presidential debate garnered much attention, and amassed over 10 million tweets on Twitter. One of those tweets, from the Kitchen Aid official Twitter account, referred to the President’s deceased grandmother, causing quite a stir.

The tweet, “@KitchenAidUSA: “Obamas gma even knew it was going 2 b bad! ‘She died 3 days b4 he became president”.”??? Wow!” #nbcpolitics“, was deleted from the Kitchen Aid account but was retweeted several times before then. Head of the Kitchen Aid brand, Cynthia Soledad, tweeted from the account several hours later apologizing for the incident.
