Sophistication: How to Entertain with Scotch

If you’re more the mixed drink type, try out these innovative Scotch-based summer cocktail recipes on your friends at your next party.

The Bird With The Crystal Plumage (created by Lindsay Nader, Harvard & Stone)

1.5 oz The Famous Grouse

.75 oz Pineau Cherantes (French Fortified Wine)

1 oz Pineapple Juice

.5 oz Lemon Juice

1 Barspoon Sugar

Dash Angostura Bitters

Shake, strain over fresh ice in a Collins glass, top with soda, garnish with a lemon slice or maraschino cherry.

 

The Fair Maiden (created by Charles Joly, The Drawing Room)

1.5 oz The Famous Grouse

.5 oz Eldergin Liqueur

.5 oz Honey Syrup

.75 oz Grapefruit

.25 oz Lemon Juice

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass. Add ice, shake and strain into a coupe. Use a channel knife to mist top of the cocktail with citrus oil. Garnish with twist.

1 oz. The Famous Grouse

.5 oz. Campari

1 oz. Cabernet

.5 oz. Simple Syrup

.5 oz. Orange Juice

Combine all ingredients in an ice filled shaker glass and shake well. Strain into cocktail glass. Garnish with orange and cherry.

 

A Grouse in Hand (created by Max Messier, Bishops and Barons)

1.5 oz. The Famous Grouse

.75 oz. Strawberry Ginger Shrub

.5 oz. Lillet Rouge

.25 oz. Lime Juice

Shake all ingredients and strain over ice. Top with club soda and a lime twist.
