In an interview with Fox Small Business, Emerson described a social media ninja as “someone who uses social media effectively.” The small business guru has over 250,000 followers on Twitter with a huge profile on Facebook and LinkedIn. “It takes time to build a following; it doesn’t happen overnight,” she noted.

Sharing others’ content on social media has allowed her to grow and develop her brand on the Web. She calls it ‘friend-raising.’”

“Share other peoples’ content before you share your own,” Emerson also said during the Fox interview. As she colorfully put it: “Be sweet, retweet.”
