Famed restaurateur Barbara B. Smith is closing her Sag Harbor Restaurant for good as she heads to a warmer climate. The television personality just shut down her Washington D.C. restaurant after 20 years and will be moving out of New York, reports News One.
“There’s a difference between quitting and knowing when to quit,” her husband, Dan Gasby said. “There is nothing noble about being old in the cold. I’m 60. My wife will be 65. We had a great run for 17 years in Sag Harbor.”
The famed restaurant B. Smith, located on the West side of New York City on 46th street, will still be in operation. Gasby says they are considering heading South to Florida, Costa Rica or Panama.
“Every time you wake up, you have something to worry about at the restaurant…I don’t want to be ‘12 Years a Slave,’” Gasby said. “You realize it’s very important that you enjoy life to the fullest.”
