SCORE and Sam’s Club Spread Holiday Cheer for Small Businesses

SCORE, the organization that helps thousands of new businesses with volunteer mentors across the country, and Sam’s Club have joined forces to spread holiday cheer to small businesses.

The two organization’s have partnered in a holiday giving campaign that will award 102 selected nationwide businesses, 2 in every state including Washington D.C., with a $1,000 gift card to purchase merchandise to help their business. These businesses were chosen by local SCORE chapters based on each business’s needs and their commitment to learning and growth.

Sam’s Club has also given a grant of $500,000 to SCORE that will be used to provide each winning business owner with access and travel to a two-day educational event where they’ll learn how to implement business growing strategies. The grant will also fund regional educational workshop events in 2013.

“Successful small businesses are integral to solidifying a strong economy,” said W. Kenneth Yancey, Jr., CEO, of SCORE in a press release. “Working with Sam’s Club this holiday season, numerous SCORE small business clients will benefit from an award that will give them the financial and educational boost they need to start 2013 with a more secure foundation.”
