Taco Bell CEO: “Cool Ranch Tacos are on the Way”

Taco Bell made headlines last year when they introduced tacos with a Doritos flavored shell. They’ve since sold over 200 million of the “Doritos Locos Taco,” and it helped lift profits for Taco Bell’s parent company by 23 percent in 2012.

Taco Bell’s CEO Greg Creed announced on “”CBS This Morning” that Cool Ranch Tacos are on the way. And not much else.

“We’ve got Cool Ranch. That’s coming,” he said.”  That’s my tease.”

While some have speculated that the brand would announce the Cool Ranch Taco during the Super Bowl, the CEO shot down this rumor. Instead, the brand is running a pre-game ad launching their new Cantina Bell Steak Burrito. And on Monday, Feb.  4, they’ll launch a one-day Facebook offer for a free churro with any purchase.

While the Doritos Locas Taco may have saved the company (which is owned by Frito-Lay), the chain still faces stiff competition as customers continue to choose healthier alternatives in fast food such as Chipotle, Panera Bread, and California Pizza Kitchen.
