They’re Back! Twinkies Making a July Comeback

After years of struggles, snack company reemerges under new ownership

Can entrepreneurs use crowdfunding to save HostessUnless you just shuddered at the headline, you’re probably excited to hear that processed sugary snack maker Hostess will rise from the ashes of bankruptcy and bring back its beloved confections.

The Associated Press reports the company plans to have Twinkies and other snack cakes on store shelves by July 15. It’s back up and running under new ownership and a leaner structure.

Nearly everything about the snacks will be the same as before, except for the packaging, which will now bear the tagline, “The Sweetest Comeback In The History Of Ever.”

Hostess Brands Inc. struggled for years — through allegations by workers of mismanagement, a failure to evolve with changing tastes, and higher pension and medical costs than its non-unionized competitors – before it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization in early 2012.
