4 Ways to Go From Bench Warmer to Game Changer in Business

“There is nothing permanent except change.” Heraclites

One of the biggest obstacles to success is coming to terms with the reality that, in life and in business, the terrain is always changing. To be successful, you must reinvent yourself, and your vision–over and over again.
Just how do you do that?

Where Are You Stuck?

One of the most common culprits of “stuck-ness” is a lack of appropriately challenging goals. Do you have concrete objectives that you are actively working toward? Have you set the bar high enough, or are your current goals limiting your potential?

As crazy as it sounds, you cannot create effective goals until you’ve created a vision for what you want out of life. (Hint: ask yourself: what components add up to a successful and happy life for you?) Once you gauge your bigger picture, you can begin to create compelling yearly, monthly, weekly, and daily goals.

Purge Energy Drainers

Energy drainers are people or obligations that leave you feeling stressed, angry, or sad. For me, consciously removing those black holes in my life this year has meant that my load is lighter, my heart is less burdened, and I can concentrate more energy on positivity and progress.

Consider whether any good is coming from the energy drainers in your life. If no one benefits, let it go. If you truly are obliged (not out of guilt), get creative about determining and communicating your needs and boundaries. Don’t underestimate the power of assertiveness and the magic of learning how and when to say no.

Switch it Up

Stepping into unexplored territory, both recreationally and in businesses, can give you a new vantage point from which to examine your current patterns of behavior and thought.

Do something life-changing. Expose yourself to new experiences every single week. Consider a business or life coach. Attend a seminar or class. Read uplifting materials. Find a mentor. Cut your hair. Take the alternative route. Wake up early. Volunteer. Meditate. Redecorate. Film a movie. Run a marathon. Sail a boat. Build something. Sky dive. Travel…

Go Forth!

In order to grow a business, you must grow yourself. Of course, growth necessitates change–and big growth necessitates big change.

What are you willing to give up to achieve your dreams, and how soon can you start?

Remember, it’s called “THE GAME of LIFE.” Enjoy the ride.
